RICHARD D. LEWIS
Richard D. Lewis is one of Britain´s foremost linguists. He also founded the Berlitz schools in East Asia, Portugal and Finland and spent several years in Japan, where he was personal tutor to Empress Michiko and five other members of the Japanese Imperial family. He has lived and worked in several European countries, where his clients included ABB, Alianz, Banco de España, Banque de France, BearingPoint, Deutsche Bank, Deutsche Telekom, Fiat, France Telecom, Gillette, IBM, Kraft, Mercedes Benz, Microsoft, Nestlé, Nokia, Nordea, Rolls Royce, Saab, SAP, Sony Ericsson, Unilever and Volvo.
The Lewis Model of Cross-Cultural Communication developed by Richard D. Lewis sets out to improve on other models in providing better treatment of Asian cultures, and being suited for practical usage in professional contexts. One of his books, When Cultures Collide, sold over 500,000 copies. He is currently Chairman of Richard Lewis Communications plc, an international institute of language and cross-cultural training with offices in over a dozen countries.
